Home Brewing with 9 Mile Legacy
Learn to brew beer at home with Garrett Pederson, head brewer and cofounder of 9 Mile Legacy in Saskatoon. In this class we will be using a Kolsch kit from Paddock Wood Brewing and modifying it with the addition of specialty grains and a variety of hops to transform it into a summery New England IPA.
The class includes:
Home brew instructional videos from a local craft brew expert guiding you through brewing to bottling steps.
An instructional document that includes an equipment and resource list
Helpful tips and tricks to make your beer taste great
Important sanitation techniques
Skill Level: Intermediate
A portion of the proceeds from each class will be donated to the Friendship Inn in Saskatoon.
Equipment: You will need to purchase about $100 of ingredients and $250-$400 worth of equipment to do this class. You get ~65 bottles of beer from this brew and the equipment can be used again and again. We provide a list of exactly what you need and where to get it.
Time: Brewing time is approx 5 - 6 hours but varies depending on:
If you are doing all the steps consecutively
Using a gas or electric oven (gas heats a little faster)
Amount of ice available for the cooling phase
How much beer you are enjoying while following along
Allow 7-10 days for fermenting , a couple hours for bottling and then a couple more weeks for carbonation. Patience is a virtue…order some 9 Mile beer delivery while you wait!
